SUMMARY:Design Professionals Council Meeting at the McCleary Mansion
DESCRIPTION:Please join us this month at the McCleary Mansion in Olympia for a tour and to learn the history! Food and beverage will be hosted. For more info click here.\n\n\n\nFor those who would like to carpool please meet at the MBA - Office by 5pm. \n\n\n\nHistory about the Mansion:\n\nThe impressive Henry McCleary House in Olympia\, Washington was built between 1924 and 1925 at a cost of just over $100\,000. One of Olympia?s finest residences\, it is over shadowed in formality only by the Governor?s Mansion. The house stands as a personal expression of wealth and prestige which surrounded one of Washington?s great lumber barons. \n\n\n\nToday the house is recognized as a fine piece of architecture\, both inside and out. Although its interior proportions have been somewhat altered\, the graceful staircase\, the rich and varied woodwork\, the elegant windows and fireplaces are still very much in evidence. The exterior remains in its original state\, except for the removal of the porte-cochere at the rear. The north fa ade and grounds are unaltered and still impressive. Two huge Cedars of Lebanon flank the central walkway and hide the house from direct view on 21st Avenue. In many ways\, the McCleary House is an exceptionally fine example of the work of the popular and prolific architect Joseph Wohleb.
